Starting July 1, 2024, Facebook will offer new monetization opportunities for content creators in Nigeria and Ghana who have at least 5,000 followers. The social media giant Meta announced this exciting development on Monday.
Meta introduced two new features designed to help creators earn money from their content. The first feature is called *In-Stream Ads*, which will allow creators to make money from ads that appear before, during, or after their videos. The second feature, Facebook Ads on Reels, will let creators earn revenue based on the performance of their short video clips.
Meta’s statement explained the new opportunities: “To use either product, creators must pass and follow Facebook’s monetization policies, be at least 18 years old, and have a minimum of 5,000 followers for In-Stream Ads.”

The In-Stream Ads feature will offer different types of ads:
– Pre-Roll Ads: Ads that play before a video starts
– Mid-Roll Ads: Ads that appear during a video
– Image Ads: Static image ads displayed under the video
– Post-Roll Ads: Ads that show up after a video ends
Additionally, Ads on Reels will be integrated into creators’ original short videos, allowing them to earn based on how well their Reels perform.
Meta explained: “In-Stream Ads can be placed before, during, or after on-demand videos, including pre-recorded content or live stream recordings. Ads on Facebook Reels will be included in original Reels to help creators earn money from their content.”
This new initiative aims to boost the earning potential for content creators and further support the creative community in these countries.
