NDLEA Raids Drug Party in Abuja, Arrests 60

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a raid on a “drug party” in Abuja, resulting in the arrest of 60 individuals.

The event, held on Friday, was called “Go hard or Go Home, Pick Your Poison.”

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi announced in a statement that the suspects included 25 males and 35 females. They were arrested at an apartment in Sun City estate, located in the Federal Capital Territory.

Babafemi noted, “The raid followed credible intelligence about the drug party organized by one Stanley Ikechukwu, who was arrested at the venue.”

During the raid, six suspects—Victoria Adoga, Hamza Yari, Joanne Essein, Socchima Valentine, Jago Imole, and Charles Indobuibisi—were found with varying quantities of ecstasy and cannabis.

NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, directed that 20 suspects who tested negative for drugs be released unconditionally. The remaining 33, who tested positive for illicit drugs, were released on bail and are required to report to the FCT Command of the agency on Monday to begin treatment and counseling.

In a separate operation, “four individuals were arrested in a forest in Ugun, Igueben Local Government Area in Edo. The suspects, Endurance Okon (24), Joseph Michael (23), Ovoco Bright (43), and Goday Abanum (23), were detained on Saturday, June 29, when NDLEA operatives raided and destroyed 18,632.22 kilograms of cannabis on 7.452 hectares of farmland.”

Babafemi also mentioned another incident on Friday, June 28, where NDLEA operatives recovered 40.32 kilograms of “Loud,” a potent strain of imported cannabis.

The recovery was made along the Lekki-Ikoyi road after the driver of the vehicle abandoned it upon noticing the operatives were pursuing him.
