Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, has urged Nigerians who have taken up arms against the state to lay down their weapons and seek peaceful dialogue. He made this appeal after addressing troops at the Nigeria Army Armoured Corps in Bauchi State on Wednesday.
Lt. General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of peace for economic growth and the fulfillment of the people’s demands.
“I appeal to them to drop their arms and seek dialogue and other means through which their grievances can be addressed,” he said.
He encouraged the troops to remain disciplined, dedicated, and committed to their duties.
“Regardless of the challenges that we face in all the theatres, they must continue to remain resolute till we accomplish peace and security in the nation,” he added.

During his visit, Lagbaja interacted with the troops, acknowledging them as the backbone of the Nigerian Army. He also assured them that their complaints, including issues with promotions, non-payment of salaries, and problems related to peacekeeping missions, would be resolved soon.
“Most especially, those challenges that border on their pay and allowances and that’s why I asked them to send messages directly to me because it is of utmost importance to me and they will be addressed,” he stated.
