MultiChoice has lowered its subscription rates for DStv and GOtv in Nigeria following a court order. The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal in Abuja mandated the company to halt its price hike, prompting the readjustment.
The company initially planned to challenge the ruling but has now implemented the new prices as of Sunday, June 16, 2024, due to a significant decline in its Nigerian subscriber base, losing over a million customers.
DStv Premium package subscribers will now pay N29,500 instead of the proposed N37,000. The Compact+ package will cost N19,800 instead of N25,000. Compact Bouquet subscribers will pay N12,500, reduced from N15,700, and Confam package users will be charged N7,400 instead of N9,300.
For the Yanga package, subscribers will pay the old rate of N4,200 instead of the new rate of N5,100, while Padi subscribers will now pay N2,950, down from N3,600.
MultiChoice has updated these prices on its company’s apps, ensuring customers benefit from the readjusted rates.
