In a significant breakthrough, Nigerian Army troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) apprehended two notorious kidnappers in Jagindi Community, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The suspects, identified as Yahuza Abubakar and Musa Ishyaka, were captured during a ransom collection operation on June 14.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, that the kidnappers had abducted Miss Aisha Gero from Jagindi and demanded a ransom of N500,000 from her parents.
The military, leveraging intelligence, arranged to lure the kidnappers with the ransom money. The operation culminated in the arrest of Abubakar and Ishyaka at the point of collection.
The suspects are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing further investigation. The successful capture highlights the effective collaboration between intelligence services and military operations in combating kidnapping and ensuring community safety.
