Nigerian Army Troop
In a decisive move against insurgent activities, troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch neutralized six terrorists and arrested three suspected collaborators in Giwa local government area of Kaduna State.
This operation was confirmed in an operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government by the Nigerian military.
The operation was initiated in response to credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the Galadimawa general area. According to Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, troops first set up a position at Sabon Sara village where insurgents had abandoned a herd of rustled cattle in their haste to escape. The recovered cattle were subsequently returned to the locals.
“The troops then sighted insurgents at the Market Square of Galadimawa. A swift exchange of fire resulted in six insurgents being neutralized by the troops,” Aruwan stated.
Following the confrontation, a search of the market area led to the arrest of three suspected collaborators and informants who were believed to be providing logistic support to the terrorists. The troops also recovered two motorcycles and four mobile phones from the scene.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, commended the troops and Major General MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for their successful operation. He urged security forces to continue thorough investigations to dismantle more criminal networks.
Governor Sani also called on local communities to continue providing timely intelligence to the nearest security formations or through the state’s 24-hour Security Operations Room at 09034000060 and 08170189999.
The Kaduna State Government warned informants assisting terrorists to cease their activities, highlighting that they are being tracked for prosecution.
“Finally, informants who provide information to terrorists on the movements of security forces and citizens, are warned to desist from these actions, as they are being trailed for diligent prosecution,” the government stated.
This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace in Kaduna State.
