In a bid to enhance societal welfare and foster sustainable development in Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and First Exploration & Production Limited (First E&P) Joint Venture (JV) have jointly donated N53.4 million to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country.
The donation, made under the JV’s Impact First Initiative, aims to address key areas such as healthcare, education, and economic growth within the nation. This initiative underscores the commitment of NNPC Ltd. and First E&P to making a positive impact on the lives of the less privileged.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, Mr Bala Wunti, NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Upstream Investment Officer, expressed gratitude to First E&P for spearheading the laudable programme. He emphasized NNPC Ltd.’s belief in the power of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its dedication to collaborating with partners to uplift communities across Nigeria.
Wunti highlighted the various projects and programmes executed under the initiative, including the provision of classrooms, ICT Centres, scholarships, and economic empowerment initiatives. He commended First E&P for its foresight and leadership in driving meaningful change for the betterment of all Nigerians.
Among the beneficiaries of the donation were renowned NGOs such as the Irede Foundation, Human Development Initiative (HDI), OISA Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Centre, and Niola Cancer Care Foundation. These organizations focus on critical issues ranging from providing artificial limbs to child amputees to organizing awareness campaigns and screening for colon cancer.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Olufemi Soneye, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift vulnerable communities and promote societal well-being. This donation marks a significant step towards achieving these goals and fostering a brighter future for all Nigerians.
