Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IE) has made a significant announcement, revealing a reduction in electricity tariff for its Band A customers. Effective immediately, customers under Band A will see a decrease from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh.
In a circular issued by the company’s management on Monday, the decision was outlined, with IE expressing its commitment to providing 20 to 24 hours of electricity daily for users within this band. The move comes despite the stipulated tariff of N225/kWh ordered by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
In a statement addressing customers, IE emphasized the revised tariff: “Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kWh to N206.80/kWh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily.”
Furthermore, the company clarified that while the tariff for customers under Band A has been reduced, there will be no changes for customers in other categories, including Bands B, C, D, and E.
This decision by Ikeja Electric reflects a concerted effort to alleviate the financial burden on its Band A customers while maintaining its commitment to service reliability.
