Gunmen have struck in the Iperu area of Ogun State, killing Babcock University professor of law, Yinka Olomojobi, in a tragic incident.
The gunmen, in their audacious act, also abducted two other individuals in the same area.
The harrowing event unfolded on Friday evening at Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road in Iperu. According to reports, the assailants attempted to abduct the professor, but he resisted their advances, leading to a fatal shooting at about 9:20 pm.
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, revealing that one person had been apprehended in connection with the crime. “A two-week-old security man was arrested based on reasonable suspicion as police commence discreet investigation,” she stated.

Odutola elaborated on the sequence of events, stating, “A suspicious coincidence led the police to arrest one Awada Ishaya of Plateau state who was employed two weeks ago when the event centre was launched as a security man for further interrogation.”
The police report from the Iperu Division shed light on the gravity of the situation, indicating a kidnapping and murder incident that transpired on April 19, 2024, around 9:20 pm. The abducted victims’ fate remains uncertain as efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe return of the kidnapped individuals.
The tragic outcome of the incident was confirmed as the professor was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased.
