Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has extended its Meta AI service to 12 countries beyond the United States, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Canada, and Australia, among others.
The expansion aims to provide users with new creative, expressive, and productivity tools directly within these popular apps.
In a blog post on Thursday, Meta announced the rollout of Meta AI in English in more than a dozen countries outside the US, stating, “Now, people will have access to Meta AI in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe—and we’re just getting started.”
Meta AI, powered by Meta Llama 3 technology, has evolved into a multifaceted tool that seamlessly integrates into users’ daily lives, empowering them to accomplish tasks, acquire knowledge, foster creativity, and forge connections with ease.

The company emphasized the advancements in Meta AI, stating, “Thanks to our latest advances with Meta Llama 3, Meta AI is smarter, faster, and more fun than ever before.”
With Meta AI integrated into feeds, chats, searches, and more across their apps, users can access real-time information without leaving the app.
Meta’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, expressed excitement about expanding Meta AI to new countries, stating, “With our expansion of Meta AI in English to new countries, we are excited to share our next-generation assistant with even more people and make it work for you by providing real-time information through our seamless search integration in the apps you know and love.”
The company highlighted unique creation features of Meta AI, such as the ability to animate photos and generate high-quality images in real-time as users type.
Additionally, Meta AI can produce playback videos of the creation process. The rollout of Meta AI underscores the growing importance of AI in tech companies’ strategies.
However, experts have raised concerns about various issues associated with AI, including lack of transparency, bias, privacy concerns, ethical dilemmas, and security risks.
Additionally, there are concerns about the concentration of power and the long-term risks associated with the development of artificial general intelligence surpassing human intelligence.
