The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken action against the purported suspension of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by petitioning the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to probe the matter.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, the APC described the suspension as a “criminal act” carried out by individuals who are not legitimate members or officials of the party in Ganduje’s ward.
Haladu Maigwanjo, the APC legal adviser in Ganduje’s ward in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, announced the suspension on Monday at a press conference in Kano, citing corruption charges against Ganduje by the Kano State Government as the reason. However, the state chapter of the party swiftly nullified the suspension.
According to the national spokesman of the APC, the perpetrators of the alleged suspension must be identified and brought to justice. He stated, “The purported suspension was the devious act of a group of impersonators of ward officials out to cause mischief and create confusion.”

The APC accused individuals affiliated with senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) of orchestrating the suspension as part of a “despicable programme of political persecution” against Ganduje by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Describing the purported suspension as “downright criminal,” the APC emphasized that it holds no validity. The legitimate Executive Committee of Ganduje Ward has denounced the action and reaffirmed Ganduje as a bona fide member of the party in good standing.
The party has taken further steps by filing a petition with the Inspector-General of Police, urging an expedited investigation into the matter and the prosecution of the perpetrators and their sponsors. The APC called on its members and the public to disregard reports of Ganduje’s suspension, reaffirming his position as the National Chairman of the party.
